Me: J.K… get it cuz my life’s a joke.

Jesika Knight

I will explain my hobbies, what I like and what sort of shows, movies and games I enjoy.

Games:

I’ve recently started playing one of my old favourites, Minecraft, this is because I have been influenced by multiple YouTubers (who has recently began playing it) such as; CallMeKevin, Jacksepticeye and Pewdiepie to play it! It’s one sandbox game that I can really enjoy, as I don’t usually like sandbox games. I usually prefer the games that are story rich and decision heavy, such as; Life Is Strange, Heavy Rain, Gone Home, Her Story, The Last Of Us and a lot more, but that leads me into another topic, as most of these games are quite expensive (or were at the time of release) I wasn’t able to buy most of them, so I opted to watching a YouTube lets play of them and even though I wasn’t in control, I could find multiple YouTubers and watch what happened if they did this or if they went that way etc. If I ever do buy the games (which is most likely) I could easily find different dialogue options and different outcomes that the YouTubers, I watched, didn’t find.

I do own Sims 4 and I have played it here and there however I hadn’t played it in a while since finding this YouTuber (Clare Siobhan) who also plays the Sims(4) and instead of a ‘normal’ lets play, she acts out a narrative with the characters she creates and it really inspired me to continue playing the sims, and now I play it whenever I’m not playing other games (aka Minecraft) and when I’m not watching YouTube.

Shows/Films:

My preferred method of watching anything such as movies or shows is definitely Netflix, I have probably binged watched all of the Rom-Com movies and a fair amount of the shows. I have watched a lot of Korean dramas/movies and I think they are much better than the american/English programs *cough cough* I think Korean dramas shows their audience real world problems among all the pressure of living in such a competitive place. As well as representing the Korean culture very well, though there is some cliche things, it’s comedy at the end of the day, from watching one drama you’d learn so much about the food, language, respective titles, and much more. I think they give so much more thought into the drama/movie than any other creators, and I might be biased however I truly believe that, of course there are lots of great English/American shows, such as iZombie, American Horror Story, Black Mirror, The umbrella Academy and more.

My all time favourite TV show, The Walking Dead, I have rewatched seasons 1-6 like 50 times, as well as watched as many episode breakdowns, making sure to find all the things I missed when I rewatched it the second time. (I watch every episode at least twice, once with my dad and the other with my sister) I don’t watch much TV but when I do it’s mainly filled with zombies or teen drama.

I usually avoid anything Sci-Fi and action, however I have probably seen a lot of those due to my family, as they also love using Netflix. Though I don’t usually go for them there are a couple Sci-Fi movies I do enjoy such as; Guardians of the Galaxy and The Terminator, however I do try and stay clear of them. I love watching horror films, old or new, mainly because if they’re bad I can make fun of them, but some of the time they do actually have a good story, you just have to look past the cliche stuff. Only realizing now, recently I have been watching way more horror films then anything else, I’ve also been watching Film Theory, a YouTuber who creates theories on films and shows, He also has a ‘main’ channel (Game Theory) where he creates video game theories. Film Theory spreads a new and fresh light onto a movie and makes you look at the film completely differently, for example; I had recently watched The Blair Witch Project, at first watch you’d think it was the Blair Witch who messed with them however after watching the Film Theory’s video what he states seems too believable.

I used to watch a lot of anime, now I don’t have much time to, since I like to binge watch the whole series in one sitting. however I do still enjoy anime very much especially when I find one I’m interested in. I have recently finished watching Tokyo Ghoul (plus all the other seasons) which means I’m looking for more zombie genre anime’s, since I’ve watched all the ones I know of, including any vampire ones too. I’m a big fan of anime’s that are set in a school, I have watched a bunch of them. I aim towards anime’s with a softer look, once I researched some of the art styles I now know the (unofficial) names of the art styles I avoid since I don’t like looking at some of them. The art styles I try to avoid are; Realistic (and some CGI), Cartoon (which is similar to the american style of cartoon) and Chibi, which makes the characters look way too young. The ‘softer’ look I was previously talking about was called Kawaii style or the ‘newer’ anime style, which some people could confuse it with Chibi, however Kawaii style does a good job at representing the characters age quite well and Kawaii seems to be an in between of Realistic and Chibi. It’s not too realistic and not too Chibi, just right, for me anyway.

Books:

I’ve never been a reader however, when I want inspiration or when I’m motivated to read, I will pick up a book, and barely read it, however at least I try, even though I don’t particularly read, I do enjoy collecting books, especially if the blurb, front cover and the description interests me.

Over the summer, I had started collecting a novel series that interested me. Women’s Murder Club, which consists of 22 books, all the titles are connected by the use of ordinal numbers, for example the first 5 books are called; 1st to Die, 2nd Chance, 3rd Degree, 4th of July, The 5th Horseman. I only have a couple, however I do plan on collecting them all and eventually sitting down and reading them. My goal at the moment is to read it within 3 months (I haven’t started yet though)
